CNDDD hosted its 2025 Annual Webinar, uniting policymakers, business leaders, development experts, and academics to discuss innovative ways to enhance Nigeria’s dairy value chain.
With the theme “Building a Productive and Sustainable Dairy Value Chain,” the online forum highlighted the ongoing national drive to build a vibrant and competitive dairy industry in line with the Federal Government’s livestock transformation plans.
The event began with opening remarks from Roger Adou, chairman of CNDDD and managing director of FrieslandCampina WAMCO. Messages of support were also delivered by delegates from the Netherlands, leading Nigerian universities, and industry collaborators, all stressing the importance of shared action in transforming the dairy ecosystem.
A notable moment was the keynote titled “The Future of Dairy Development in Nigeria,” prepared by Attahiru Jega, co-chair of the Presidential Livestock Reforms Implementation Committee, and presented by the committee’s secretary, Demo Kalla. The presentation outlined the government’s strategy to upgrade livestock practices, raise output, expand dairy infrastructure, and build stronger partnerships aimed at enhancing food security nationwide.
Jega, through his representative, praised CNDDD and FrieslandCampina WAMCO for their sustained leadership in training, research, and local dairy sourcing initiatives.
A high-level panel session followed, featuring seasoned professionals from investment banking, government agencies, and the private sector. Panellists including Saud Pasha, FrieslandCampina’s director of Dairy Development, and Demo Kalla shared practical pathways for expanding milk collection networks, improving commercial farm operations, increasing access to financing, and strengthening regulatory systems that uphold quality, safety, and industry-wide competitiveness.
The partner session included a presentation by Remco de Waal of Trouw Nutrition (Nutreco), showcasing innovative feed and fodder solutions that are helping farmers improve output and supporting the development of organised dairy hubs.
Temitope Adeola, public affairs manager at FrieslandCampina WAMCO, emphasised the need for stronger coordination among policymakers, industry players, and research institutions. She noted that CNDDD continues to support national livestock transformation goals by promoting structured knowledge exchange and hands-on interventions across the dairy landscape.
The 2025 Annual Webinar demonstrates CNDDD’s broader vision to unite stakeholders, build technical expertise, and drive progress toward a dairy sector that is sustainable, competitive, and equipped to meet the nutritional needs of Nigeria’s expanding population.
